The idea of 2spicii spawned on a night two best friends, Ashlyn and Shamaya, we’re caught in conversation during their study session in 2020. Inside their university’s library, the conversation of Perth’s entertainment industry rose, and they soon would ponder over the lack of female DJs they saw on a night out. With momentum on the topic, they both discussed how they’d love to explore the art of DJing. Ashlyn was a big music fan from a young age, always frantic about finding the newest music at school. Also as a student, Shamaya spent much of her down-time curating playlists for herself and her friends to listen to. They decided then and there in the library, as they looked into each other’s souls, as soul sisters do, that DJing would be an adventure that they would pursue together.

Their revelation naturally directed them to begin DJ lessons with Soul Alphabet, and after their first gig at the Bird in March 2021, they have gone one to play some exciting and fun gigs around Perth. Some of these shows include Club Jewelz, Banana Social, Balaay, Kaptive, Fremantle Biennale, Afro Fusion NytLife, High Drive, Pineapple Club and many more! 2spicii’s movement also caught the attention of The West Australian, and since their chat have moved onto releasing ‘The Hot Girl Mix’ on Soundcloud after spending time finding their ‘sound’. 2spicii are new and fresh Boorloo Based Baddie DJ duo. They are disruptive, fun, high energy and are truly dedicated to not just diversifying the industry but also pushing themselves as artists to be the best DJs they can be. They specialise in Dance music, Hip hop, RnB, Afro Beats, Balie Funk, Afro House, and love creating a safe space for people like them and everyone in between to feel included to be able to have fun on the dance floor together.
